YLBioss® Porous Bioceramic Bone Substitute –Advancing the future of Bone Repair Materials

Driving innovation in Tissue Regeneration Transforming the Future of Bone repair Materials

It all began with a reunion at the 2009 COA Academic Conference in Xiamen, where the President of the European Association of Tissue Banks put forward the forward‑looking view that “Synthetic bone graft would become an important direction for future bone repair materials”. Firm to this vision, our team embarked on 16 years of exploration and research. In 2026,Wuhan Leader Med‑Biotechnology Co., Ltd. Launched its independently developed bone defect repair material, Porous Bioceramic Bone Substitute, which was approved for market launch in February 2026 (NMPA Registration No. 20263130394). This milestone marks a new chapter in the innovation of bone repair materials.

Leader Med‑Biotech has always been focused on regenerative medicine, driven by technological innovation and committed to the independent research, development, and innovation of bone repair materials. Guided by the concept of “biomimicry of the natural bone structure”, our products utilize an innovative patented pore‑forming technology (Patent No. ZL 2023 1 0870719.X) to fabricate a biomimicry β‑tricalcium phosphate (β‑TCP) bone repair material with a hierarchical porous structure featuring interconnected macro and micropores.

At the 4th Hubei Life & Health Science and Technology Innovation and Entrepreneurship Competition, Leader Med‑Biotech, together with Zhongnan Hospital of Wuhan University, presented the project “R&D of Multidimension Biomimetic β‑TCP Phosphate‑based Synthetic Bone graft”. The project was awarded Third Prize in the competition, highlighting Leader Med‑Biotech‘s innovation capabilities and technological expertise in the field of regenerative medicine. Leader Med‑Biotech was also selected as a contracted enterprise for the “Spring Rain Action” initiative.

       Four Key Advantages

YLBioss® Porous Bioceramic Bone Substitute offers a new solution for bone defect repair, backed by four key advantages.

       1. Controlled Raw Materials

Through years of research and development, Leader Med‑Biotech has established a manufacturing process for β‑tricalcium phosphate (β‑TCP) that meets the requirements of YY/T 0683. With a purity>99%, the material has been registered with the National Medical Products Administration (NMPA) through the Medical Device Master File Registration (Registration No.M2023035000), providing robust assurance for the safety and quality of our products.

       2. Biomimetic Structure

Based on patented technology (Patent No. ZL 2023 1 0870719.X), Leader Med‑Biotech has developed a biomimetic hierarchical porous structure featuring interconnected macro‑ and micropores. A stable bimodal pore structure is fabricated through a multi‑stage calcination and sintering process, with porosity up to 70% and pore interconnectivity exceeding 99%, perfectly mimicking the multi‑lever pore characteristics of natural cancellous bone.

       3. Degradation & Regeneration

Building on the biomimetic structure of YLBioss®, its interconnected macropores facilitate ingrowth of blood vessels and bone tissue, while micropores enhance nutrient transport and ion exchange, creating an ideal microenvironment for osteocyte adhesion and proliferation. Preclinical animal studies have shown that bone matrix grows within macropores and infiltrates deep into material micropores, achieving profound integration with host tissue. This interaction helps regulate material degradation, allowing the degradation rate to better align with the rate of new bone formation. Compared with domestic control group without a microporous structure, which may degrade too rapidly and consequently provide insufficient guidance for bone tissue regeneration during the later stages of repair, YLBioss® Porous Bioceramic Bone Substitute demonstrates a more balanced degradation–regeneration process and ultimately delivers excellent bone repair performance.

       4. Clinically Validated Performance

Clinical imaging follow‑up has demonstrated that YLBioss® achieves favorable repair outcomes for traumatic bone defects and bone defects after tumor resection. At 3‑6 months postoperatively, the material undergoes progressive degradation, with new trabecular bone formation observed within the grafted area. The defect space remains well maintained without collapse, demonstrating reliable early‑ to mid‑term bone repair performance and supporting the reconstruction and healing of bone defects.
